Joanne Engle has over 25 years of progressive experience leading and guiding strategic and financial growth at one of America’s premier national retailers. Macy’s, Inc., is an omni channel (stores and online) retailer, with fiscal 2013 sales of $28 billion. The company operates the Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s brands with about 840 stores in 45 states, several international locations, and the macys.com and bloomingdales.com websites.
Joanne’s current position is Group Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis for macys.com. She leads the strategic development of the long range business, annual and seasonal financial plans and forecasts for macys.com. As the dotcom business evolves to allow the customer to purchase via her ideal channel (desktop pc, tablet, mobile device, or in store), and inventory fulfillment capabilities become more varied (from warehouses, stores, vendors, or customer pickup), planning metrics and EBIT impact are more intricate. Joanne works with advertising, technology, logistics and customer service teams to ensure the best customer experience while delivering on the bottom line.

In addition to FP&A, Joanne has responsibility for the macys.com internal portal. Prior to her current position, Joanne held several positions at the Macy’s Northwest region in Seattle (formerly The Bon Marche) including VP Expense, Director of Gross Margin Planning, and Buyer. Joanne is a Six Sigma Green Belt, and has been educated in Retail Sustainability. She was chair of the Macy’s Northwest Sustainability Employee Resource Group.

Joanne is an advocate of Credit Unions, and has held various board leadership positions with Watermark and Sound Credit Unions in the Seattle area. She is actively seeking a Credit Union board position in San Francisco. Joanne gives back to the community through volunteering with United Way, the SF Food Bank, the American Lung Association, and Team in Training.

Joanne’s transfer to macys.com brought her and her husband to San Francisco 6 years ago. Their blended family includes 6 children. In addition to spending time with family, Joanne is a dedicated yogi, enjoys traveling, and is a foodie (loving San Francisco’s farmer’s market fresh produce!).
