Jennifer Garrett is Executive Vice President, National Enterprise Group at XO Group. She is a creative and passionate sales leader with nearly 15 years industry success to her credit. After 12 years in senior sales roles at Nickelodeon and MTV Networks International, she joined XO Group in 2014. She expertly leads national sales for the company’s premier lifestyle media brands: The Knot, The Bump, and The Nest.
A member of the company’s executive team, Jennifer manages the first-rate 65-person multidisciplinary national sales team including ad operations, digital strategy, integrated marketing, custom content, production, and research. She has completely re-energized her sales and marketing teams, driving double-digit growth across the company. Jennifer increased tentpole sponsorship to seven figure opportunities. Additional successes include: icreased Q4 2014 national online revenue for XO Group by 37% year over year; grew total 2014 national online revenue for XO Group by low double digits year over year, growth rates not seen in the business since 2010; increased The Bump 2014 national online revenue by 57% year over year.
Prior to joining XO Group, Jennifer was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the Nickelodeon Group of Viacom Media Networks. There she led a convergent team responsible for driving substantial TV and online advertising revenue, developing distinctive multi-platform marketing solutions across on-air, online, mobile, recreation, and consumer products. She spearheaded marketing partnerships with the likes of P&G, Macy’s, AT&T, Microsoft, Campbell’s, Lego, and Paramount Pictures. At MTV Networks International, she played an instrumental role in building the global advertising business, generating multi-lateral deals and significant revenue by delivering TV and digital media dollars to MTV, Nickelodeon International and Neopets.
Before stepping into the media and sales worlds, she practiced finance law at the firm now known as Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and European History, and went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law. Throughout her career, Jennifer has consistently demonstrated the unique ability to seamlessly translate her experience and skills across industries and disciplines – from finance law to media sales and marketing, from international to domestic, from television to digital, from established international media conglomerate to digital niche lifestyle brands.
Jennifer speaks French and Swedish; in fact, she has dual citizenship in the United States and Sweden. She met her husband at a Metropolitan Opera summer performance in Central Park, and together they have twins and live in New York City. They enjoy traveling, whether abroad to Europe or to hike and ski in the Adirondacks and Vermont. When she’s not at work or shuttling between her kids’ gymnastics classes and baseball practices, Garrett enjoys reading mystery novels set in interesting places and fancies herself quite the chocolate connoisseur.
