JoAnn McGuiness

Former President and COO, Inland Real Estate Income Trust

JoAnn McGuinness currently serves as President and COO of Inland Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. and as the CEO of Inland Investment Real Estate Services, the company responsible for all asset management, property management, leasing, marketing and operations for all of Inland’s real estate assets and funds.

Throughout her career at Inland, she has been involved with managing upwards of over 35 million square feet of commercial space and over 6,500 apartment units across the country. Her group is also responsible for overseeing the department that performs the due diligence on the assets Inland purchases, which includes financial modeling, property inspection, capital projections and all other processes involved with purchasing an asset for The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies. 

JoAnn joined Inland in 1992 working in the multifamily / residential division. She has, at some point in her career with Inland, worked with each one of the REITs sponsored by Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation and has experience with residential, student housing, hotels, retail, office, and industrial properties. She was instrumental and part of the team which sold Inland Retail Real Estate Trust, Inc. to Developers Diversified (DDR) for $6.2 billion in February of 2007, providing its shareholders with liquidity and impressive returns and remains the 4th largest retail real estate transaction in U.S. history. She also had significant involvement in another successful liquidity event with Inland Diversified Real Estate Trust, Inc. and Kite Realty Group (KRG) in 2014.  She also serves as a member of Inland’s Investment Committee.

She is a graduate of Elmhurst College and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business. JoAnn serves on the Board of Trustees for Elmhurst College and as a Board member of Inland Income Trust, a public non-traded REIT.  Mrs. McGuinness was the 2008 Dean of Open Air Centers for the University of Shopping Centers at the Wharton Business School and holds a SCSM, SCLS, SCMD, SCDP and a CRX accreditation with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). She is one of only 12 people in all of ICSC to hold all 5 of their designations.
