Vice President of Energy Resource Management, NYPA

Jenny Liu is the Vice President of Energy Resource Management at the New York Power Authority (NYPA), overseeing over $300M of gross margin revenue for its generation portfolio.  Jenny is responsible for electric power sales, fuel procurement and hedging of over 6,000 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity.  She oversees the bidding of two large hydroelectric facilities (Niagara and St. Lawrence-FDR), a large pump-storage hydroelectric facility (Blenheim-Gilboa), two gas-and-oil fired facilities (500MW Combined Cycle units and Astoria Energy II), eleven small electric generating facilities and various small hydroelectric facilities into the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO).  She also manages fuel operations, hedging and renewable credits.  These transactions total over $1 billion enabling the Authority to provide clean, low-cost and reliable energy while promoting economic development and job development, energy efficiency, renewables and innovation, for the benefit of its customers and the State of New York.

Jenny is also active on various operating committees and represents NYPA with Ontario Power Generation and Astoria Energy II.  These committees are responsible for overseeing matters pertaining to the rights, obligations and interests of all entities with respect to contract implementation.

Prior to her tenure at NYPA, Jenny worked for Northeast Utilities in the Nuclear Division as a Quality Engineer.

Jenny received a Master of Business Administration from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.
