Vice President, Global Head Quality Systems and Quality Management, Genentech

As Vice President and Head of Quality Systems and Quality Management at Genentech, Fanzia Mohammed leads a global team implementing organizational transformation within Pharma Technical Operations. Her broad oversight includes improving the Pharmaceutical Quality System for new therapies and modalities including cell and gene therapy, the Quality Management System as part of a digitalized manufacturing strategy, the Quality Metrics program to include Advanced Analytics and Reporting and the Quality Product Leaders program to support product health and accelerated launches.

Fanzia began her career at Genentech in 2005 as Director of Quality Systems in Oceanside where she was responsible for integrating the former Biogen Idec site into the Genentech quality system. In 2010, she moved to South San Francisco into Global Inspection Management, working collaboratively with sites on significant inspection risks and strategies. In 2012, she was promoted to Senior Director/Head of Global Complaint Management. Under her leadership, the product complaint process was optimized, process variability was significantly reduced and process efficiency realized. Additionally, she was a member of the project team for global regulatory complexity reduction. In 2016, she led the newly formed Quality Supply Chain oversight role for Product Lifecycle, Supply Chain and Supplier management.

Prior to her career at Genentech, Fanzia held positions of increasing responsibility in quality and manufacturing at Sterling Drug International – Trinidad, Roche Welwyn – UKĀ and Biogen Idec – USA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Zoology from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad.
