Caitlin Smallwood is Vice President of Science and Algorithms at Netflix, where she leads predictive decision models, algorithm research, and experimentation science. She and her team enjoy tackling challenging problems such as: How popular might a new movie or TV show become among Netflix members if Netflix were to produce or license it? How can Netflix optimize the delivery and quality of internet streaming? Which new machine learning algorithms can improve the personalized recommendations for Netflix members?
Prior to joining Netflix in 2010, Caitlin worked at Intuit, Yahoo!, and several mathematical consulting firms (PwC, SRA). Caitlin holds an M.S. in Operations Research from Stanford University and a B.S. in Mathematics from The College of William and Mary.
Caitlin is passionate about driving value for people through data science, analytics, and personalization. She is also a happy mother of girl/boy 17-year-old twins.
