Brand Communications Manager

We are currently seeking a Brand Communications Manager to help shape and expand AWE’s brand awareness. You are someone who thrives in an environment where everyone wears multiple (and AWE-some!) hats. You are an idea-generator, content creator and project manager that quickly discerns the needs of, and successfully executes, any project. You have a knack for marketing concepts and brand messaging that drives engagement on any platform. You are a skilled writer with a passion for words and the ability to tell compelling stories that speak to a variety of audiences. You have an eye for design and the technical skills to create beautiful presentations and digital content that connects with audiences. You have that project management magic that allows you to execute flawless in-person events that wow existing and prospective clients. The position is based in LA and reports into the Head of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

     Communications & Marketing:

  • Work with the Head of Operations to develop and execute cross-channel marketing campaigns to build and engage audiences;
  • Ideate, create, schedule and distribute content for AWE’s website, email, social media, video, sales and training collateral, print, signage and emerging platforms;
  • Track and provide reports on campaign success metrics;
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders on the development of creative, manage and incorporate feedback, and solicit partner approval at key milestones; 
  • Optimize marketing and SEO strategy using Google Analytics; 
  • Maintain and keep current website information and collaborate with the Head of Operations on website maintenance; 
  • Maintain archive of images, photos, copy and previous work samples with a standardized file structure maintained across projects;
  • Keep Head of Operations updated on activities, significant problems, prioritization and progress toward established goals and deadlines;
  • Assist with other team projects (brainstorms, naming, etc.) as required.

     Event Planning & Management:

  • Provide 360 management from ideation to execution of a limited number of in-person events including member appreciation lunches and dinners, new sales networking events and speaker-led roundtable discussions;
  • Work in tandem with Sales and/or Delivery & Engagement to develop event vision, deliverables and production schedule;
  • Take the lead in creating the aesthetic for events and produce all materials and signage;
  • Negotiate event contracts for vendors, freelancers and venues;
  • Oversee event production and manage vendors, freelancers and venues to ensure the vision is executed as planned;
  • Regularly communicate key dates, action items and updates with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of event deliverables;
  • Manage project budgets, create cost estimates and oversee vendor setup/invoices from vendors, freelancers and venues;
  • Create project recaps to be shared with internal stakeholders at the end of each event.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Alignment with AWE’s mission to create equity and economic growth in the workplace;
  • Excellent copywriting, design, video and photography aesthetic with humor and finesse;
  • Two years writing original copy for editorial, branding or product promotion;
  • An extensive understanding of all creative disciplines, both conceptual and executional, (layout, design, user experience, copy, and video) and the ability to integrate feedback;
  • Media creation experience using design and production software including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Cloud products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Spark), video editing tools (Premiere, Final Cut);
  • Working knowledge of web page and email design (HTML);
  • Social media marketing and audience engagement experience via LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and knowledge of production and scheduling tools including Mailchimp, Hootsuite and Planoly;
  • Knowledge of marketing trends and best practices;
  • Superior project management and organizational skills;
  • An ability to interpret directions and take ownership of assignments through to completion;
  • Must work well under deadline pressure and be a strong team player;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to travel to events as needed and for extended hours;
  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree.
