Ana Iacovetta is a legal executive who prioritizes authentic relationship building. With 20+ years of experience working in the technology sector, her expertise in governance, compliance, and financial accountability along with her people-first approach to business has established her as a leader with integrity. The combination of her high emotional intelligence and deep-seated knowledge ensures that any organization she partners with will consistently thrive.

Currently, Ana is the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of VMware, Inc. She has broad legal experience in FCPA and SOX compliance, sales transactions, mergers and acquisitions, IP licensing, consumer and corporate service and product offerings, crisis management, employment matters, cyber-security, trade compliance, internal investigations and employee training. She also has hands on experience working outside the US, including over two years spent in Shanghai, China, as the Trust and Compliance Officer in charge of IBM’s Growth Markets. She currently manages a worldwide multicultural group of legal and compliance professionals.

Ana started her legal career in private practice at Thacher Proffitt & Wood in New York City, as a corporate banking and securities lawyer. She left private practice to join IBM Corporation where she held several executive leadership positions, including roles in transactional sales and IP licensing, services and product offering development, research and development, and as a compliance officer in IBM’s Trust and Compliance team.

Ana received her JD from Boston University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Philosophy from Boston University. She is admitted to the bars of New York and Massachusetts and is registered to practice as in-house counsel in California.

When she is not in the office, Ana can be found exploring the neighborhoods of her new hometown of San Francisco, working on her small city garden, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
