Harvard Business Review Blogger Analyzes Catalyst Survey on Flexibility Versus Face Time

In an age when technology allows us to work from a coffee shop as easily as a cubicle, flexible work arrangements are no longer the exception but the rule. In a recent Catalyst survey 81% of their sample worked for an organization that offered flexible work arrangements of some kind. Although women and men use these flexible work arrangements to the same extent, women usually choose to telecommute more often than their male peers, which could unintentionally be creating a talent drain in companies by denying these women access to influential networks, senior-level sponsors and advancement opportunities. The study also revealed that female employees with access to flex options are more likely to aspire to the top and those without flexibility often downsize their aspirations. Read more here
