California Leading Way for Women on Corporate Boards

Women on boardsCalifornia is often known as a trend setter for the rest of the country, and here at AWE we hope this next trend sticks. In September California lawmakers passed legislation, Senate Resolution 62, which urges publicly held companies with nine or more directors' seats to fill at least three of them with women over the next three years. Companies with five to eight directors should have at least two women in that time frame. Although it's a resolution, and does not come with any sanctions or penalties, it's a progressive step toward encouraging companies to focus on gender equality. Read more here
